The Cozy Specimen grew out of my life in science and my need to make space for creativity within it.
As a woman in STEM, I spent years in laboratory settings where everything practical was easy to find, but anything personal or beautiful was not. I wanted tools and paper goods that reflected who I was, items that felt warm, thoughtful, and human in a space that can often feel sterile and impersonal. I couldn’t find them, so I started creating them.
Alongside my work in science, I’ve always loved junk journaling and paper crafting. Collecting textures, vintage imagery, field notes, and small details became a way to slow down and reconnect with curiosity. Over time, those two worlds, lab life and journaling, naturally merged.
The Cozy Specimen is inspired by quiet science, vintage natural history, and careful observation. You’ll see mushrooms under glass, butterflies in jars, botanical studies, and gentle laboratory imagery, all designed to feel collected rather than trendy.
Everything here is made for science lovers, journal keepers, and anyone who wants their workspace or stationery to feel personal and comforting. These pieces are meant to belong in well-loved notebooks, handwritten letters, and cozy laboratory corners.
This shop is my way of claiming softness in science and celebrating curiosity in all its forms.
Thank you for being here and supporting a small, woman-owned creative space.
